Microbiology Laboratory at Mount Sinai needs Bacteriology Supervisor

The Microbiology Laboratory at Mount Sinai Medical Center has a position open for a bacteriology supervisor on the day shift. The successful candidate needs to have a NYS license as a Clinical Laboratory Technologist and 5+ years experience working in a clinical microbiology laboratory. Previous supervisory experience is a plus but is not required.

Microbiology Lab Supervisor

Microbiology Supervisor needed by Continuum Health Partners at Beth Israel.

Beth Israel is a 1106-bed, full-service community and tertiary care hospital and is affiliated with Albert Einstein College of Medicine, a graduate school of Yeshiva University.

The successful candidate will have direct responsibility for all testing at this site and as part of the microbiology management team will assist with coordinating microbiology services for all Continuum facilities. In addition to overseeing the routine technical and administrative functions of the microbiology laboratory, this individual is expected to collect and prepare data for monthly and annual departmental reports, as well as for outside agencies. The Microbiology Supervisor will also serve as Infectious Disease Coordinator, including developing information about occurrences of infectious diseases. This is a full-time Monday through Friday position.

Requirements include:
  • 5 – 10 years Clinical Microbiology Lab experience.
  • Microbiology Certification: ASM or ASCP.
  • Prior supervisory experience preferred.
  • Master’s Degree preferred.
  • Hold a NYS Clinical Lab Technologist License (or be eligible for one).
  • Strong communication (written and verbal) and interpersonal skills.
